Inazawa Building Systems Works
Our world-leading mother factory
Inazawa Building Systems Works, located in Inazawa City, Aichi, Japan, was established in 1964 as a specialized factory for elevators and escalators. In 1982, it began developing and manufacturing building management systems. Since then, the company has shipped Mitsubishi elevators and escalators to approximately 100 countries globally. As the mother factory that oversees the quality of Mitsubishi elevators and escalators operating around the world, we prioritize safety and focus on the environment, efficiency, energy conservation, and comfort. The technologies, expertise and skills we have cultivated are passed on to our 12 global manufacturing bases, and have taken root in our sales, installation, and maintenance bases around the world, maintaining product quality and improving it even more.

SOLAÉ elevator test tower
Pursuing safety and security at a world-class height of 173 meters
SOLAÉ, located within the Inazawa Building Systems Works, is an elevator test tower completed in 2007. At 173 meters tall—its height chosen to match the Japanese phonetic reading of "Inazawa" (1-7-3-0)—it is approximately equivalent to a 40-story building. This test tower facilitates verification tests for drive control, safety, key component development, and ride comfort of ultra high-speed, high-capacity elevators.
The name SOLAÉ ("to the sky") alludes to the shape of the building reaching up into the sky and the desire to strive for limitless quality. At night, the building’s edges are illuminated by high-intensity searchlights, and the top floor is lit with colored LED lighting, creating a fantastical appearance.
Elevator and Escalator QM (Quality & Manufacturing) Center
Make it. Break it. Repeat. It’s how we improve quality
The Elevator and Escalator QM (Quality & Manufacturing) Center was established with the goal of further improving elevator and escalator quality. We focus on key parts closely related to safety and quality, such as drive mechanisms, support members, and electrical components, and conduct focused, centralized development, prototyping, and evaluation.
The concept of the QM Center is "make it, then break it". Normally, product assessment and verification are based on design drawings, but at the QM Center, development and verification are carried out through a process in which the participants create their own parts, break them, evaluate them, and use the knowledge gained to improve quality. By testing manufactured parts until they break, teams can thoroughly investigate why they broke and how it can be prevented. The process deepens their understanding of the limits of product performance, as well as their strengths and weaknesses, leading to better product development.

"TAKUMI" Installation Training Center
Early training of domestic and international installation "masters" using actual equipment
The Inazawa Installation Training Center "Takumi," which opened in 2019, is a facility specializing in the training of elevator/escalator installation experts. It features 10 hoistways for installation training, eight training elevators, and a special safety education facility. By providing practical and effective training through hands-on instruction using actual equipment and virtual reality, the center enhances the skill improvement of installation personnel both in Japan and around the world. Its goal is to improve installation quality and provide safer, more secure, and more comfortable elevators/escalators globally.
SOLAÉ place
A training facility for global talent responsible for the next generation of building systems
This training center is dedicated to furthering the global expansion of our building systems business by fostering and strengthening the talent responsible for the sales, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance of our elevators/escalators and building management systems. By cultivating leaders for our global bases and providing technical and skills training at each location, we aim to improve the technical capabilities of our affiliates, both in Japan and around the world.
We strive to improve our service framework and quality to keep our customers’ building equipment in optimal condition throughout the whole lifecycle, and consistently provide safe, secure, comfortable building environments.
