Your Privacy with MEBS
The private records of your employees and those of their covered family members are safe with MEBS, Inc. MEBS has always maintained a policy of confidentiality regarding personal data. That personal data is necessary for us to administer insurance programs and to provide customer service. MEBS does not sell, lease, or give personal information regarding our customers to any other organization or business. Confidentiality and Security: MEBS has stringent policies and procedures to protect the confidentiality of personal information. MEBS also maintains physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect personal data from unauthorized access and unanticipated threats or hazards. Information That May Be Collected: Personal information is provided in applications, claims, and other forms. In addition, MEBS may receive information from health care providers through the course of managing insurance transactions. MEBS also has personal information from transactions with our affiliates, and certain third parties with whom we have service or joint marketing agreements. These third parties may include our reinsurers, insurance administrators, consultants, agents, and insurance companies with whom we do business. Generally, we receive information by telephone, in writing or through an electronic data interface (EDI). This generally includes personal information about your policies, premiums and claims of your employees, beneficiaries and other covered insureds. If we need more information from medical professionals or consumer reporting agencies, it will be requested only with proper authorization.
Independent Insurance Agents: Those independent insurance agents who are authorized to sell our products are not our employees. Since this agent is subject to the same privacy laws that govern us, this agent may have privacy obligations to you, which are independent of ours. Information We May Disclose: MEBS regards all personal information as confidential. We will not disclose personal information unless we are allowed or required by law to make disclosure or if you tell us we can. We only make those disclosures as necessary to administer your insurance and pay claims and as necessary to effect transactions in the ordinary course of our business. Any disclosures are only made to our affiliates, agents, joint marketing partners, and certain third parties, such as insurance administrators, reinsurers, consultants, and regulatory or governmental authorities. In some situations, MEBS works with our affiliates and other outside firms to help with services and marketing. As permitted by law, these firms may use certain identifying and non-medical information. Our affiliates are subject to the same policies regarding privacy of your information as we are. Our policy is to require outside firms to pledge to maintain the confidentiality of the personal information and abide by all applicable privacy laws. These firms are prohibited from using or disclosing personal information given to us for any purpose other than the work they are performing or as required by law. Even if your relationship with MEBS ends, we pledge to maintain our privacy policy and practices so that privacy of personal information will always be protected.
