News Free Choice Voucher Provision in Healthcare Reform law - Repealed - Friday, April 15, 2011 This provision would have taken effect in 2014. Generally, this provision would have required employers offering health coverage and paying a portion of the costs of the plan to provide vouchers to certain employees equal to the contribution that the employer would have made to its own plan, to be used to purchase coverage through an Exchange.
U.S. Supreme Court denies hearing VA case to overturn individual mandate - Monday, April 25, 2011 The U.S. Supreme Court denied a fast track appeal of the lawsuit declaring the healthcare law's individual insurance mandate unconstitutional.
Tax Provision in Healthcare Reform Law - Repealed - Thursday, April 14, 2011 On April 14, 2011, the President signed an Act to repeal a Tax provision in Healthcare Reform that required businesses to file Form 1099 for all transactions valued at $600 or more. This provision would have raised revenue to help pay for Healthcare Reform. The House and Senate previously passed this bill with the House vote of 314-112 and Senate vote of 87-12. Early Retiree Reinsurance Program (ERRP) No Longer Accepting New Applications - Friday, April 1, 2011 Effective May 6, 2011, the ERRP will no longer accept new applications due to the availability of funding. Any sponsors that would like to apply to the ERRP must submit a completed application, which is received by the ERRP Application Center on or before 5PM ET on May 5, 2011. Applications received on or before May 5, 2011 will be processed. If an application, received by the due date, is missing information to continue processing the application, the ERRP Center will contact the sponsor and provide a limited amount of time to respond. If a sponsor does not provide a timely response to this request, the application will be denied. Any pending incomplete applications as of March 31, 2011 must be completed by May 5, 2011 or they will not be processed. This notice does not affect currently approved applications. |
